Soon to be added to the list of 1st place prizes for the MAMAs Breakthrough Artist competition is 8 hours of studio time at Blast House Studios. New Madison-area bands that have played together for under two years can compete for the title of Breakthrough Artist this spring in a new program launched by the Madison Area Music Awards. The winner of the competitions April 4 battle of the bands will go on to perform at the 11th annual MAMAs, the citys premier music awards show, on June 22. To compete for that and other prizes, bands must have performed in public in the past year, have original material and their own stage equipment, and have demonstrated initiative in promoting themselves.
