Sooo...riding home this evening, a rambunctious young man hailing from Mississippi was ranting & raving about political subjects (of course hot topics of today that are dividing our country)...very loud dude. The sweet elderly lady next to him asked his religious affiliation...Christian (would not share the specific religion). She then asked his political affiliation...Republican (Teabag). She asked a few questions about each subject he brought up, very gracious lady. He got aggravated at her questions & went off on her, calling her stupid. Poor, sweet thing busted out in tears, making her embarrassed. Yes...this dude was not received very well. I was proud of how everyone dealt with this kid. No one raised their voices or their hands or their guns...no one even called him names...it was the stealthiest, classiest move ever. He is lucky he was not ripped limb by limb. The poor lady. We managed to calm her down, loving on her, but she was so hurt & so dismayed. He may have killed the buzz on the streetcar, but he gave us an example how we as a community stick together. He cemented that humanity & community are top priority in this city not divisive politics.
