Sooo...today was one of those kinds of days. One of those days where you go to the store with your one-year-old alone and she is so tired that she starts crying so you leave before you can get the lunchmeat (that is supposed to be your lunch. When you get outside it is pouring down rain (and shes already crying, so you know you cant wait it out), so you take off your jacket, toss it over her (pretending to play a long-version of peek-a-boo)...only to have her flip it off her head mid run to the car and get drenched. You open the car trunk quickly, throw everything in there (including your soaked baby) and use the hatchback hood to get some reprieve from the wet. And then realize, oh, you did leave something in the cart...your wallet with your iPhone...that entire time you were loading things and putting baby in seat. You grab your drenched wallet, praying that God protected your stupidity and your phone that is pretty much your brain. Then, you get home, change your daughter out her drenched clothes, tell your husband there is no lunch with you, so you head out to Dennys. At Dennys you get a kids glass of apple juice and transfer it to her sippy cup and think, goodness, Im so glad that craziness of the store is all over...and then see that your daughter sure has drank a lot of apple juice in only a few mins. But, no, she actually has it all over her clothes...because you didnt fasten the sippy cup lid all the way. So, Daddy goes outside and gets the back-up outfit that should be in the diaper bag, but it got tossed out in the car. And Daddy take Baby Girl into the restroom and gets her all cleaned up and in her very mismatched outfit. Then you sit back and sigh...and think, Why didnt I wait to go to the store with him earlier ?. You remember why God gave you Daddy, your best friend Zach. And you all go home, crawl in bed, watch Lady & the Tramp and fall asleep for three hours (Well ,I slept 3. Daddy & Joellyn played for two of those). No...I couldnt do this alone. I am in AWE of single-mothers (like was my own mom).
