Sophia Agtarap--…BECAUSE of what God has called us to that we will protest and get arrested and raise awareness about each ones sacredness and dignity. Its not an either/or but and. Mercy + justice + piety is what we are about as United Methodists. We dont operate in a vacuum. def.-- Incarnation a person who embodies in the flesh a deity, spirit, or abstract quality Bill Mefford—one of those arrested last week protesting in Washington DC for immigrant care. “Political advocacy is birthed out of our incarnation among people who are experiencing injustice. From that position we redemptively utilize our access to resources to gain that same access to those same resources for those whose access has been restricted or denied… Last week I was arrested in action of civil disobedience along with close to 40 other United Methodists and a bunch of other United Methodists and all of us carry that passion into the political realm because of our love for our immigrant sisters and brothers who are being marginalized and oppressed because of a broken immigration system and political leaders who refuse to lead. I believe a lack of political engagement for those who are experiencing injustice means that we lack a depth of love and incarnational presence among them. “
