Soppy Gushy Dog Update. You have been warned. So Chikki (Ck in short, to distinguish her from the much more mature C) has been settling into the household quite nicely *touch wood* (not that I am superstitious or anything, but why challenge fate unnecessarily?) I must say that Ck is the most naughty puppy weve ever had. T was short-tempered and super aggressive and lightning quick as a puppy and extremely boisterous, but more so in terms of wanting to bite anything that moved and getting angry if prevented from doing so, which led her to try and bite even harder - classic vicious circle. For the first three years my forearms and calves bore the brunt of all that biting and scratching because no one else could tolerate it, but that also helped me bond with T as no one else could. With Ck it is different. If shes biting and you tell her to stop, she stops, but then thinks of other ways to make your life interesting. Like stealing the drain covers from the bathroom and hiding them in the blankets. Or pooping on the futon and trying to eat it. Or picking up the bathroom brush and running away with it to chew on at leisure. Or stealing Gs slippers the moment she leaves them unguarded. Or peeing in the house the moment she comes back in after over an hour out in the garden. She is not allowed on the bed, but guess what she does the first thing she wakes up - takes a running start and launches herself straight at my face in order to lick the hell out of it, and possibly get in a nip or two on my nose while Im still dazed. Life is all a game when youre a puppy. But she has the most adorable puppy eyes, and she uses them oh so effectively. When G stops her from climbing onto the sofa, she will sit down on the floor with her head on her paws, with the most melting Im-such-a-poor-thing-youre-making-me-sit-on-the-cold-floor look she can muster. Its all drama, of course, because in a moment something else catches her fancy, Gs sandals for example, and she is off in happy pursuit, to fight and subdue them.
