Sorry, Gary Bullock, for not replying sooner about your death - TopicsExpress

Sorry, Gary Bullock, for not replying sooner about your death penalty cases. Ive been in Yazoo City all day on the case of Chris Williams, who, I think, after reviewing all the evidence I have access to, is innocent, a case of self defense. Hes charged with murder and the judge reduced his bond from $250,000 to $100,000 today and was pressing the prosecutor to reduce the charge to manslaughter or something less. They didnt. But to your question about how long it takes to execute a death row inmate. Obviously, this is a very difficult question. We could do like some Islamic states, I hear, conduct a trial in a few hours, with none of the protections we have from our Constitution and cut his head off. Or, we can go through endless appeals until a very final decision is made and he (or she) is executed. Or we can see as we have done lately that DNA evidence proved the innocence of a convicted man (or woman). So does the State even have the right to take someones life? Is it an eye for an eye? Personally, I would say yes, but the question you ask has so many facets to it, we could debate this for days.
