Sorry I have been away from my post. Whew! It has been 10 years since I have had an allergy attack like this . . . . Only then, I was younger, foolish and thought I could work through it, which just ended me up in hospital, with sinus staph infection, on IV therapy and around the clock treatments for a week. Lesson learned. We have nipped this in the bud. I began to improve yesterday evening just hours after the doc gave me a 3 shot cocktail that included a fast acting steroid, a long acting steroid and a high powered antibiotic to put the whammy on any type of secondary infection that might try to take advantage of the severe allergy attack. My eyes have stopped watering, my sinuses are clearing, my voice is coming back and my head does not feel like it is going to explode, but I still can’t hear a thing. Everything is coming in at one pitch for my right ear and a quarter pitch lower, muffled and a millisecond delayed in my left ear due to the massive amount of fluid. That’s great if you like Middle Eastern or Chinese music . . . . but not so much for a classically trained Western musician. It’s like trying to listen to two different echo conversations at the same time. (Listen to Benjamin Britten’s carol “This Little Babe” and you’ll see what I mean.) My apologies if a political ad pops up. I tried to find a version without one.
