Sorry I have no pictures, but how many remember the Landis Spinners baseball team and their grandstand? How many players can you name? Let me start it off with a few I remember. There was manager Fred Chapman that played third base; Tommy Cooper played first at one time; A Graham played at second base. He had a serious injury one night when he was hit in the head by a pitch; home run hitter Poke Linn; Right fielder Mo Icahgovala (sic); the Deese brothers and the Cross brothers; oh, and pitchers Bob Palmer and Charlie Moore....... Does anyone remember the longest home run ever recorded there? It was hit by future Hall of Famer Eddie Matthews. It went all the way to the old school gymnasium..... I hope to hear other input on what you remember about this team.
