Sorry I havent been able to update everyone until now. We have had a busy day today with the Doctors, nurses and pictures. Brayden decided he needed a grand entrance into the world last night. We arrived to labor and delivery at 4:30 PM yesterday. Once we got settled into our room Dr. Banks came in to check my progress before inserting a dilation balloon and I was surprisingly already 4-5cm, 80% effaced and contractions were 8 minutes apart. (I had no clue I was even contracting) Since I was already so dilated the balloon would not have done any good since it only helps get you to 5cm and 6cm is considered active labor. Dr. Banks gave me the go ahead to go ahead to order some dinner since Brayden was still up high. Once I finished with dinner and my ice-cream, the nurse came back to put my IV in to give me antibiotics since I tested positive for the group b strep. I was chatting with the nurse since we realized we both went to the same highschool. Well...my mouth started getting tingly and then went numb. I then felt like I was starting to have a heart attack. My hands started to swell and turned blood red and itching. The nurse ran to get me some Benadryl since I was apparently having an allergic reaction to the penicillin. My uterus constricted so much that it cut off Braydens oxygen supply. I started dry heaving and was about to pass out. Next thing I know the room is full of drs, nurses and an anesthesiologist. They inserted a cathoder and gave me an epi shot. Then next thing I was told was that I had to have an emergency csection right then. Everything seemed to go into panic mode and in fast forward at that point. Zac was not able to come into the operating room because they had to put me to sleep since there was no time for pain meds. Once Brayden was born he had to be resuscitated because he was not breathing. He was born at 8:02 PM on Tuesday, September 30th at 8lb 5oz and 20.4 inches long. They immediately took Brayden to Zac while they sewed me up and got me awake. Once I woke they had me on my side and B and I side by side snuggled until they could get my pain meds administered since I didnt get any before or during the csection. Once they got my morphine going I started feeling better and I was able to breast feed. He is such a champ at feeding!!! :)) We then moved to our recovery floor and room at 10:15 PM and he got his first bath. He is absolutely perfect. He doesnt even cry, he just sucks on his hands when hes hungry. He has the prettiest blue eyes and blonde hair just like his Mommy and Daddy.
