Sorry, Paula, as much as I agree with you and have posted stuff that endangers me, in all my dealings with politicians, I have never witnessed a cleaner guy in politics than Stephan Harper, and I have been directly involved inside the very guts of Ottawa over the years and have operated in the very inner sanctums of Washington D.C, and it is very hard for me not to become cynical and totally turned off by how most politicians can keep swimming in those sewers of corruption and live with themselves. I have even been incarcerated and sued for hundreds of thousands of dollars because I would NOT compromise my integrity to serve the atrocities that their enclaves of POWER, EGO,GREED AND FEAR can perpetrate against the electorate. The public has no concept of how bad it really is, and for people like me whose career at the very TOP environments, has hinged on fixing corruption, the political world becomes a very lonely place because, when you stand up against corruption, you mostly STAND ALONE. Here once again is a summarized recap of just a smidgeon of where I come from, and by the way, I am no friend of Harpers, but he mostly has to stand alone, and not because he is a dictator, but he knows like I do, that when you are at the TOP, you have to stand alone. That is why electronic voting is becoming so appealing to the PARTYS IN POWER. Senior Scrutinizers become redundant, and the controllers can jimmy the system by crashing into the data base to achieve the results they want, Just as the PARTY in Power can control Elections Alberta by plugging in their supporters at each and every gate post, like at the Government controlled local Constituency that are set up by the ruling Party at election time. That is why Lorne Gibson, The Chief Electoral Officer after the 2008 election, when he confronted the majority PC controlled legislature, after the PC Party won the 2008 election promptly got FIRED and was replaced wit a PC guard dog. I personally spoke to Lorne afterwards and he knew that when he confronted the PC Party because they decided THEY would staff the local official Constituency offices, not Election Alberta officials, like he was, that he would get fired. The semantics were that THEY just chose not to renew his contract. He tried to sue them later, but given the connection of most Lawyers in Alberta to the PC Party, he was fighting a battle of futility. SO HERE IS AN EXAMPLE OF HOW NOMINATIONS AND ELECTIONS WORK FEDERALLY, AND THE SAME APPLIES TO THE PROVINCIAL MODUS OPERENDI, AND THE PROVINCIAL CORRUPTION AT THE LOCAL AND THE HIGHEST LEVELS, WHILE THE NAIVE PUBLIC LOOKS ON IN BEWILDERMENT AND THE CITIZENS HAVE NO WAY OF FIXING THE CORRUPTION. John Baloun To Paula Stein: Unfortunately most Partys in Canada are afraid to death of recall. When I ran against James Rajotte, to become nominated as a Canadian Alliance Candidate, that was the very contentious point I offered to the membership. In fact, when it came down to the final nomination vote at the Mayfield Inn, where we drew a record breaking crowd, bigger even than most crowds when official opposition candidates square off for the final countdown which determines who will become the MP representative for the Constituency, I placed a signatured copy of my offer to be recalled by the Constituency if they at any time came to the conclusion that I was ever more interested in serving the PARTY rather than the people who elected me to represent them. I placed enough copies on every seat in the auditorium which was filled with more than 1000 members. The James Rajotte demanded that I remove them because they claimed that I was offering something that ALL PARTYS had voted unanimously in Parliament to make that offer illegal. I refused to remove the signed documents, but I stood alone against the whole establishment. Had it not been for the corruption by the James Rajotte crowd, even at that final meeting I would have won the Candidacy. Unfortunately was not able to force the issue to make sure I had as many scrutinizers as James did, so many of my ballots were diverted from the ballot boxes to who knows where. He had his lawyer friends and members of the local Board standing at the door where the ballot boxes were located and because of the crowds, the lineups were long, so for people who were in a hurry, I was told, the Lawyers at the door would just give them the ballot papers and corruptly declared that they would put them in the ballot box for the members, an illegality, but seemingly an accommodation for the unsuspecting naive members who were in a hurry and wanted to vote and go home or back to their businesses. In spite of the corruption, I got 33% of the Votes, James got 60% of the votes and the other three historically well positioned nominees combined only 7%. The nomination process cost me about $25,000 of my own money, so as a lone ranger, I did exceptionally well, but simply could not overcome the corruption. THAT IS WHY I HAVE ALWAYS STATED, THAT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO FIX THE CORRUPTION IN OTTAWA, WHEN THE CORRUPTION AT THE LOCAL BOARD LEVELS SUPERSEDES AND OVERPOWERS WHICH APPLICANTS ARE ELECTED AT THE LOCAL LEVELS TO BECOME CONTENDERS AGAINST THE OPPOSITION PARTYS IN THE EVENTUAL PUBLIC VOTE AT THE POLL BOOTHS ON ELECTION DAY. THAT HAS NOT CHANGED ONE IOTA AND IS STILL THE BIGGEST DYSFUNCTION AT THE LOCAL CONSTITUENCY LEVELS. BASICALLY WHEN THE LOCAL BOARDS PICK THEIR FAVOURED MAN, THERE IS NOTHING A LONE CONTENDER CAN DO TO OVERCOME THE CORRUPTION THAT GUARANTEES THAT THEIR CHOSEN BOY WILL BE THE WINNER. This is not an angry statement. It is a fact. The corruption at the local Board level determines who the winning Nominee will be. Sad, but true.
