~~~~Sorry Peeps I had to Re-post Again so this goes PUBLIC !!~~~~ as my settings are friends ONLY tys We, Darren Burgess (Chair Person), Monica Wise (Vice Chair Person / Treasurer) and Corinne Hamilton (Secretary) regretfully wish to advise MBSA members of our collective resignation from Miniature Exhibition Budgerigar Society of Australasia, Illawarra Branch. When we originally formed our branch, we were excited towards the prospect of strengthening the MBSA and forming a new branch consisting of members who shared the passion of budgies, breeding, showing and learning more about our hobby. Our first few meetings confirmed that our members had the same interests and were on the same page as each other. We were promised support from our Bargo Branch in terms of expectations of Minute taking, Branch reports, communications amongst members, funding towards incentive prizes for future shows etc. We were told we would receive 80% of new member funds to get our Branch going, however that has not been the case. Members actually used their own money to purchase stationary, prizes to be given at our meetings etc. Our meetings were held at a venue graciously provided by Monica our Vice Chair person / Treasurer. Minutes were recorded and kept on site. Recently however, we have been inundated with emails, face book messages and phone calls requesting information with unreasonable dead lines attached. We were given five days to provide Branch Reports, Meeting Agendas and Minutes from previous meetings. When we individually asked for sample formats or an outline of detail required, we were ignored. When we requested a copy of the current MBSA Constitution and Code of Conduct we received a draft policy dated 2009. When members raised the issue of ring sizes recently, we were disappointed that the issue could not be discussed in a fair, mature, respectful manner. Members are out of pocket for rings they feel they can not use. Why couldnt we have a meeting to discuss this where every members viewpoints could be heard and discussed respectfully? In addition to the above mentioned instances, we received emails and messenger comments discussing other members of our group, assumptions towards their health, professionalism, etc. We did not appreciate private emails being republished on a public forum. Yes, these posts were eventually removed, however, members who receive notifications by email were still able to access those private publications. We feel this caused undue stress and frustration and believe the original intentions of our group being a friendly, inclusive Branch for members to connect with others of similar interests and share or gain new knowledge of miniature budgies has been greatly overlooked. We therefore would like to collectively thank our Illawarra Branch members for attending meetings and for their valuable contributions, however, at the same time, we are officially resigning from our positions and wish you all luck with your futures. Please forward any future correspondences to Mr Marc Noakes. Yours sincerely, Darren Burgess, Monica Wise and Corinne Hamilton.
