Sorry, another charity thing. For any of you that are interested in giving to environmental charities, I think this one seems particularly good. They dont buy rainforest as such instead they secure land tenure for indigenous tribes, they also build schools etc and generally support and protect the communities. They measure their effectiveness very clearly and give a lot of information on what they are doing. One thing that is particularly good about the charity is that they strategically support areas which make it very hard for farmers to break through, so you actually end up saving a lot more rainforest than you have put money into. Perhaps only vague downside is that its a £30 minimum, but thats not very much. I still thing you are better off giving to charities that focus on diseases in developing countries that are easily preventable, but theres some interesting arguments about the long term benefits of giving to an environmental charity. Ill do something in the comments if I get time.
