Sorry everyone, my phone took a dump & I couldnt post from the Council meeting. 1st of all I would like to thank everyone who attended the meeting & supported us today. We had around 8 homeless men show up & sit in the front behind me & stood up when I spoke at the podium. During general comments we were successful in getting the Emergency Shelter item added to the Agenda it was passed unanimously 4-0 Mayor Moreno was absent during the first part of the meeting. We asked for the use of the vacant Court house to be used for a temporary shelter. Then when we came to our agenda item discussion by Council, City Manager Warne, & Attorney ensued when all said was done Council again voted unanimously 5-0 to grant us the building. We were successful in getting the City to lend us the building for the next 60 days. Come Saturday our new temporary shelter will be at the Court house. When we went back to the shelter & told the 19 people there cheers, applause & tears were shed (not me). These people are so appreciative I wish you all could see their reactions. Details will be worked by Friday but please know we still need the volunteers for coverage for they are only lending us the building. We as a community need to still work together & come forward & help out. SI SE PUEDE, ONLY IN CALEXICO!!!!!!!! Again thank you everyone who stood by us at the meeting & a big thank you to all of you who dropped off supplies, sorry I couldnt be there to take pictures. I do have some I will start posting right now.
