Sorry if this is a repost, but I wonder if anyone saw my note yesterday: Any tech friends know why my Nexxtech card reader is pooched? Or how to get images off a corrupted SD card? March 28, 2014 at 2:03am Just sent this to The Source, where I bought the reader. But their customer support page seems to have a broken link... doh! So... rather than rewrite it... let me ask you guys if anyone knows this problem and has an idea how to fix it. I REALLY dont want to lose any more photos from this trip!!!!!!!!!!!!! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Nexxtech SD/Multi card Reader Model: 8000945 / ICES-003 I bought this card reader several weeks ago from a store in British Columbia while visiting my sister (I live in Toronto, Ontario). I was having problems with it immediately, but at first there seemed only to be a minor inconvenience, so I didnt return it to the store where I purchased it at the time. Now I am traveling and the issue has escalated to the point where I seem to have lost several dozen photos due to a corrupted SD card. This is the problem: While I was transferring photos from my SD card to my laptop (Mac pro, OX 10.6.8), the reader ejected itself accompanied with a warning message stating that the disk was ejected improperly (I cant remember the exact wording.) Initially this happened occasionally, but now it is happening all the time. This behaviour happened the very first time I used the reader, but since it wasnt very often, I would simply plug it back in and continue the transfers. It was cumbersome, but I did manage to get hundreds and hundreds of photos off of my card successfully. However today when I went to transfer photos, about half way through the process the reader started ejecting itself all the time - anytime I try to click on an image (I am trying to read a SanDisk 32gb SD card, though it was doing it with other cards as well). And, now the SD card appears to be corrupted - it seems I have lost several dozen photos - they have been replaced with an alias that is unreadable. And when I look at the card in camera, every photo after a certain one appears to be gone... even though I am able to see some of them on my laptop. I am guessing this could be because of the repeated times that the disk was not ejected properly. What I want to know is: Is this a known issue with the Nexxtech card reader? What can I do to fix the problem? Is there a way to recover lost data?(When I try to run a data recovery program, the reader ejects itself with the same error message.) I am traveling in Europe for the next several weeks and cant return it to the store until later in April. As you can imagine, I am concerned about my photos from this trip. I have already lost several dozen. I will use another card for now and try to recover those images when I get back to Canada, but I dont trust the reader to transfer any more of my photos until I know what the problem is. Your assistance is greatly appreciated, Thank you Karyn Ellis
