Sorry if you dont like social issues posts, but this is just a lil educational post I felt like writing: Theres a debate going on in a group here about if its okay for a white person to do blackface. That shouldnt even have to be a debate in the first place. But Im sure 80% of the people saying its perfectly okay have no idea what blackface actually is, or the long history behind it...which is a pretty good reason to NOT talk about it, instead of saying whatever comes to to the top of you head. People cant even agree that invoking centuries of slavery, racism, lashings, and degrading black people, is wrong. That should be pretty basic. And, no, its actually not offensive or racist for black people to paint themselves white (White Chicks) because theres literally no history of oppression behind it. Getting to pretend history isnt relevant: a white privilege. Pretending like its the same thing when there are black americans alive today who were actually forced by law to drink from separate fountains and sit in different places, and you want to say the Waynes brothers mocking white girls in a movie is the same thing? *Dr evil voice* How about nooo.
