Sorry this is going to be long but with a lot of the team parents - TopicsExpress

Sorry this is going to be long but with a lot of the team parents that have been asking me about Jami, I thought this would be the best way to communicate what we found out yesterday. We have been to many doctors and have had multiple tests such as a CAT scan looking for brain tumor, thyroid test, allergy test, stress test, and many others. Riley’s Hospital in Indy finally gave us the answers we were looking for. They are 99% sure it is Vocal Chord Dysfunction. This is where the vocal cords shut off her air passage. This is not life threatening. The worse case scenario would be that she would turn blue, pass out and then when she relaxes the body would start breathing again. The problem comes as she tries to work extra hard she tenses up and her vocal cords shut. Jami will now go to a speech therapist Wednesday to learn exercises that will keep this from happening. Then we will have to go back to her regular doctor for the final results on her sports physical before she is released to play soccer or tennis. Thanks to all that kept Jami in your thoughts and prayers and to all the team members and coaches for your support through this!
