Sound, just like wind and gravity, cant be seen. However, seeing the air density changes caused by the movement of sound through space has been made possible through the technique presented in the video linked. The phenomenon could be more accurately described as seeing light being modulated by the disturbance of air generated by sonic events. The mesmerizing animation is just a thin slice (not section!) through a three dimensional sound bubble. Air molecules dont just move back and forth on a straight a line - like the image might suggest, but perform a circular motion, rotating around a center.
