Soup Kitchen Update 29 December 2014 Date: Mon, Dec 29, 2014 9:32 pm Sirens, Sirens, Sirens... Things are going from Bad to Worse.. Four Heroin Over Dose deaths happened just this week. One young man who was regular at Soup Kitchen was just found on Jefferson and Plum one hour before Soup Kitchen opened tonight. His Father came to the Kitchen in tears and what can you say or do... Jesus has the right people in the right places at the right time as Father Marv retired chaplain from old Mercy Hospital was there to give some consolation. Other What Ifs were considered and talked about on how this could have been averted but it is all hindsight.... Just another justification that the Holy Spirit lives at the Springfield Soup Kitchen. People in sorrow and despair come to where there is Gods Love........ End of the month and 40 gallant volunteers served 217 guests their choice of a wonderful filling meal of ham or turkey dinner and they all had the option of seconds. Ted made some great fresh squeezed orange and grapefruit juice from new juicer donated by Cheryl Wise. Thanks Grace Evangelical Lutheran because your recent donation purchased a new Hobart Slicer used to cut the ham and turkey tonight. There is so much that could be said of those that support the Soup Kitchen it is simply unbelievable but that will be for another time. Volunteers and supporters just let it be known when you get to heaven your reward will be Great.... Thousands are reading these updates and hundreds are flocking to volunteer... Calling first would help immensely.. Story of the night is not the overdoses because unfortunately that has become common place even though the price of a hit has climbed from 5 to 10 to 20 dollars a hit, the death goes on ... Sometimes Soup Kitchen Guy cannot even write these updates anymore without crying because of visualizing all that goes on... Story of the night is the Homeless with no where to go in freezing weather ........ I have looked into the eyes of too many that walk the streets every night trying to keep warm... Soup Kitchen Guy wants a Tent City in Springfield and we want it on the same golf courses that the city uses Reserve Funds to use for their personal recreation......... Lets finally do something productive and display to the country and the world we care about people..... Soup Kitchen Guy is a Vietnam Era Veteran and has been through survival training and tries to educate the homeless on surviving the cold but this is not enough ........... We need some government officials to show some Spine.... There are tough times ahead. Jesus said He who has seen Me has seen the Father, I am in the Father and the Father is in Me.... God Our Father this is Your Soup Kitchen have mercy on us... Mother of God Pray for us.... Love Soup Kitchen Guy
