Source: Centers for Disease Control and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. -In 2013 there were roughly 32,000 gun related deaths in America. -Approximately 19,200 of these deaths were suicides, thats 60% of what the media (erroneously) reports as gun violence. -960 were accidents -1280 were justified homicides (self defense) -10,560 were actual homicides -The FBI reports that roughly 80% of these homicides were direct, gang-on-gang violence. -That leaves 2112 non-gang related homicides in a population of roughly 312,000,000 people. Lets do some math: You have a 0.000102564% chance of being shot and a 0.00000984% chance of being shot if you arent in a gang or involved in gang activity. The United States, for our high level of gun ownership has a staggeringly low rate of gun violence. Math is awesome.
