Source Ed Clark: The Wildlife Center of Virginias annual Call of the Wild Conference is underway, and we have quite a crowd; something over 150 people from about ten states. My good friend, Dr. Helene Van Doninck, from Nova Scotia presented a very, very compelling session on the issue of lead toxicity to raptors, focused on how to convey the message to hunters, without alienating or attacking them. She has had a huge impact in Canada and in the United States. One of the videos she shared is a very easily understood of the issue and implications....as well as how easy it will be to solve the problem by getting hunters to switch to copper projectiles for their hunting bullets. This is particularly useful for people who claim that there is no scientific evidence to link bullets and this toxicity issue. There is ample evidence, and when 99% of all ethical hunters see this evidence, they will voluntarily switch to copper, as I did ten years ago!
