Source Verification: Christopher Garcia Spokesperson – AMBALA 09293200615 Hundreds Defy DAR in Hacienda Luisita October 18, 2013 Hundreds of farm workers of Hacienda Luisita including advocates from Metro Manila and elsewhere showed their defiance at the Department of Agrarian Reform’s (DAR) sham land and CLOA distribution by staging a protest action in barangay Mapalacsiao this morning, despite the presence of scores of police and military troops including a fire track deployed in the area. This demonstrates the distrust among the majority of the residents against the DAR not only because of the above but also of its being the blatant apologist of President Aquino’s family in its renewed efforts to land grab prime territory in the Hacienda. Again the DAR through USEC Parungao showed its fascist character by once more threatening those who did not sign the Application to Purchase and Farmers Undertaking (APFU) that they will be disqualified and the land allocated for them will be awarded to other qualified beneficiaries. Other than this, the DAR Secretary himself a few days ago threatened farm workers with disqualification from owning the land if they occupy and till farm lots land grabbed by Tarlac Development Corporation (TADECO) that should have been included in the distribution whether it was ruled by the Supreme Court or not. USEC Parungao is saying that the people are very happy with the distribution process and the land reform implemented in the Hacienda. If that is the case why were there protest actions, boycotts and even the tearing of the CLOA today by a disgusted farm worker beneficiary? Why were hundreds of military and police deployed in all barrios where the Lot Application Certificate (LAC) and Certificate of Land Ownership Award (CLOA) distributed? Why are there still military troops and CAFGU’s inside the Hacienda? And why are there a growing number of security guards deployed in contested land areas including one occupied by RCBC. The DAR is quick to threaten the farm workers. Likewise it is also quick to defend the interests of President Aquino’s family including junking the auditing process for the P1.33 billion debt of Hacienda Luisita Inc. to the farm workers because only HLI opposed to the selection of an auditing firm approved by the majority parties. AMBALA (Alyansa ng Manggagawang Bukid sa Asyenda Luisita) will continue to struggle for free land distribution in the Hacienda, increase the land to be distributed to the farm workers, ousting of TADECO and RCBC, payment of the P1.33 billion debt of HLI, and ouster of all military, CAFGU and security guards from the Hacienda. This is only just and moral, which unfortunately the DAR and the family that it defends lack. ### Site of pictures of today’s protest in barangay Mapalacsiao: ow.ly/i/3smeB, ow.ly/i/3sn28, ow.ly/i/3smlA, ow.ly/i/3smlA
