South Africa says it will continue to support all solidarity programmes with Cuba, and will seek to explore avenues of further cooperation with the South American country. Speaking on the occasion of the International Solidarity Conference on Cuba, Western Sahara and Palestine -- hosted by Parliament on Thursday – Deputy International Relations and Cooperation Minister Marius Fransman said the common struggles and shared aspirations of Cuba and SA would ensure that South Africa remained committed to “growing our bilateral and multilateral relations with Cuba”. “… We wish to reiterate our unvarying and unyielding support to the legitimate struggles of the people of Cuba. As a country, we will continue to defend these struggles until the citizens of these countries enjoy and benefit from full freedom, independence and justice,” said Fransman. Under the auspices of the SA-Cuba Joint Consultative Mechanism, Fransman said Pretoria would continue to consolidate political, bilateral and multilateral relations. The deputy minister reiterated South Africa’s support for Western Sahara and Palestine, calling for their freedom, equality and the right to self-determination.
