South African cabinet ministers have vowed to take the countrys - TopicsExpress

South African cabinet ministers have vowed to take the countrys top anti-graft watchdog to court, over a report that heavily criticised a state-funded security upgrade to President Jacob Zumas private home. The cabinet which includes the interior and police ministers said in a statement it was demanding a judicial review of the report. Public Protector Thuli Madonsela said in a March report that Zuma should pay back some of the money spent on the 23 Million US dollar upgrades to his rural Nkandla homestead. Madonselas 444-page summary of a two-year probe into the renovations painted a picture of systemic official incompetence. Despite a public and media outcry over the upgrades, President Zuma is set to be sworn in for a second term in office this weekend after his African National Congress won 62 percent of the vote in a May 7 general election.
