South Burnett Toastmasters held their first session of the Speechcraft Course last night. There were 8 participants and just as many Toastmasters, so the room was packed. The course ran to time thanks to our wonderful Toastmaster Marietta, who was assisted by everyone in some shape or form. The Speechcraft Participants did a fantastic job with their Table Topics - so well done!!! A brief outline of Session 1: Discussing the importance of good public speaking skills - for career, personal development, increase self confidence, small groups or large groups, weddings, eulogies, unfamiliar subjects, reunions, birthdays and many other celebrations. Impromptu Speaking - presenting your thoughts in a clear, organised manner with a minimum or preparation and thinking spontaneously - a skill that is invaluable in everyday life. Selecting a Speech Topic - choose a subject you know well ie yourself and at the same time you will be introducing yourself to fellow participants. Give them an understanding of your interests, background and ambitions. The purpose of Evaluations - to let you know how you are progressing in your efforts to learn speaking skills and where improvements are needed. Looking forward to the next session...
