South Colac- Birregurra Rivalry 2011- Grand Final One of the most epic season deciders in recent time. The Saints and the Roos played out of the most physical hard fought contests for four terms in wet conditions all day. Shaun Harrington would boot the first goal of the Grand Final, as the Roos would boot two goals to one in the opening term to take a four point lead at the first change. A Jared Brien goal for the Saints in the second term, was the only major between to two sides- as both were locked on 2.3.(15) at the main break. Birregurra would boot the opening three goals of the third term opening the game up for themselves, they all came in a hurry. South would edge forward with two late goals to close the gap to eight points at the last change. The final term was epic, Roos coach Stephen Hammond would kick a goal to draw the Roos back with-in a kick early in the final term, Then Birregurra star/captain/warrior/gun Micky Davis would crumb off a pack and run into a opening goal - pushing to lead back over a goal. Kalen Islet would be rewarded a 50 meter penalty which resulted in a goal to draw the margin back under a kick. South would blow a chances in front of goal to get back the lead, but when the siren went- its was Birregurra just in front. Mid-Season recruit Jace Kelly would be rewarded the best on ground medal. With coach Paul Lynch (who got injured early in the game) giving his medal to Saints star Sam Green- who got injured during the final series and was unable to play in the Grand Final. Birregurra 6.10.46 def South 6.7.43 Micky Davis and Jared Brien booted two goals each, Jace Kelly, Cam Wright and Chris Leerson the best for the premiers.
