South Florida Water Management is taking out my dock, my huge - TopicsExpress

South Florida Water Management is taking out my dock, my huge beautiful banyan tree, all the trees on the canal bank, and any wildlife that lives in these trees for a bank restoration project. Theyre making us take out our fence, and move our shed about 20 feet forward (which isnt going to happen since the chickee hut is about 10 feet from it already), and theyre basically tearing my entire back yard apart, the one I grew up in. The chinese plum tree that ive been picking and eating he fruit off of for years is going to be destroyed. All of our trees (including the lemon tree, the lime tree, the peach tree) are going to be destroyed. They said theyd come over and work with my dad on how we could make this work, and then they came in and did the exact opposite. Theyre reinforcing the banks for flood protection. For one, in my 17 years of living here, even after a hurricane, the water level of the canal has never gone above my dock. Secondly, were not even in a flood zone. No one here has to pay flood insurance. We also dont understand why theyre not doing this on the other side of the canal, which is almost completely clear, theres more than enough room for the machines, and thats the side theyre doing it on down Loxahatchee. Im just wondering if Im being unreasonable by being pissed about this, because no one else is trying to do anything about it.
