South High baseball coach Cliff Butcher wanted to pass along an update on 19-year-old Alec Valdez, who is in critical condition after being hit by a truck Thursday night. Coach Baker and I went to see Alec this afternoon. He had just received medication before we arrived there so he was sleeping. Josh James was in his room earlier when the doctor ask Alec if he was in pain and wanted more pain medication and Alec was able to respond by nodding his head. That is progress from last night so that is very exciting. Also, the swelling in his face has also gone down and he is looking much better. He has made good progress in the last couple of days. Coach Baker and I plan on going by later this afternoon and hopefully see Alec when he is awake. Keep the prayers coming.
