South Texas Showdown this weekend: I believe I have now reached - TopicsExpress

South Texas Showdown this weekend: I believe I have now reached my bucket list goal of getting in the best shape of my life for my one year cancer anniversary next week. Yeah! I have obviously been fitter when I did the Ironmans; however, considering overall condition, I believe I am in better shape now. For those interested who have asked, or those looking for something different to do this weekend, the show I used as my motivating goal and am competing in is called the NPC South Texas Showdown, this Saturday, here in San Antonio. I saw my coach Monday for the final assessment and we felt we are on track. We are now just making small final tweaks. I have no expectations and I am just pretty happy that I reached my goal. I am totally sick and tired of the weeks of grueling dieting and am simply looking at the show as the thing that stands between me and that Cheesecake Factory Carrot Cake Cheesecake! It would be so wonderful to see some of you out there and have the support. It is something different; I also find it very inspiring to see the conclusion of many months of hard work for the different fitness athletes. It is a smaller, local, fitness show with different categories ranging from old-school bodybuilding to the now very popular, more athletic and aesthetic, male and female physique type divisions. I have not been to this show and really do not know what to expect in terms of size or quality, but if you are looking for some motivation to get in better shape, or simply want to be entertained, this will get you some. The show is on this Saturday, the 9th, at the Carver Community Center, 226 North Hackberry, San Antonio, 78202. You can buy tickets online at southtexasshowdown.net (via TicketMaster), but you will have no problems buying tickets at the venue itself. For some reason, the tickets on Ticketmaster are listed as more expensive than the door tickets on the poster. I’d recommend buying on-site. Seating seems to be first come first serve. The show is in two parts. At 9 am in the morning is when all the judging and comparisons takes place. Since the show is small this part lasted about two hours last year, but it is very dependent on how many folks show up. This gives you much more time to see the athletes, but can be slower paced. The evening show, at 6pm, is the main event. It is much faster paced with more people, music etc., but since all the judging has already been done, you get to see much less of the individual athletes. This is where the awards are also handed out. One, or both are great to attend. Hope to see you there. Shoot me a txt or message if youre going to be...:-) Michiel Espach
