Young 6 30 Weather Situation A high centred to the west of Bass Strait is extending a ridge along the New South Wales coast in the wake of a low pressure trough that lies over the far northeast. A new high centre will develop over the western Tasman Sea during Friday and should remain almost stationary for several days, becoming the dominant synoptic feature in the region. As this high strengthens winds will tend northerly across the state. On Saturday an inland trough will begin to extend south from Queensland to lie across most of NSW on Sunday. This inland trough will be slow moving and will begin to trigger an unsettled period of showers and thunderstorms across much of the state starting from Sunday extending into next week.
