Southern LGBT activists slam the NYTimes and Washington Post for promoting the narrative that national LGBT organizations like HRC are expanding into the South and bringing LGBT equality with them when in reality, LGBT activists in the South have been fighting and laying the groundwork for civil rights locally for years. National media always latches on to the bigotry while ignoring the victories.
