Southern Oregon Land Conservancy 2014 Hikes Free community hikes. Many of these hikes are located on private properties with limited public access. PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED: Space is limited for each hike. Please call 541-482-3069 to register. We will also send out monthly releases for the hikes as they run from April through September. Saturday, April 12; 8 am – noon (easy) Birding at C2 Ranch Hike leader: Bob Hunter Join us to bird on this gorgeous 10,000 acre conserved ranch near Eagle Point with expert birder, Bob Hunter. Sunday, April 13; 2 - 4 pm (easy) Hike the Oredson-Todd Woods Hike leader: Vern Crawford Explore a beautiful protected forest above Ashland with an expert naturalist. Thursday, April 24; 10 am - 2 pm (moderate) Hike Upper Table Rock Hike leader: BLM Guide Join us to explore this special Southern Oregon landmark - a remnant of an ancient lava flow. Saturday, April 26; 9 am - 1 pm (moderate) Hike Cathedral Hills Hike leader: Dr. Tom Atzet Learn about the ecology of this natural park outside of Grants Pass with one of the best guides in our region. Sunday, April 27; 10 am - 1 pm Jacksonville Woodlands Geology (easy) Hike leader: Marjorie Ratner Stroll through the flower-filled Jacksonville Woodlands and learn about the geology and natural history of this protected park. Sunday, May 4; 11 am - 12:30 pm Briscoe Geology Park Tour guide: Len Eisenberg Tour this unique interpretive display showing the long and varied geologic history of planet Earth in Ashland. Saturday, May 10; 8 am - 11 am (easy) Birding in Oredson-Todd Woods Hike leader: Dennis Vroman Bring your binoculars and your favorite birding book on this hike through Ashland’s forested park. Sunday, June 22; 10 am - 2 pm Grizzly Peak Wildflowers (moderate) Hike leader: Kristi Mergenthaler Join us on a 3-mile round trip hike to a lookout with outstanding mountain and valley views.
