Southern Traffic Operations Unit Officers were stunned by the actions of a 20 year-old woman near Barrow Creek on the Stuart Highway over the weekend. Sergeant Conan Robertson said Police stopped a car being driven by the woman after noticing children in the car were not restrained. "Six children were in the vehicle and not one of them was wearing a seatbelt. On top of this the driver was unlicensed, driving an unregistered vehicle and was also not wearing a seatbelt." Sergeant Robertson said a check on the vehicle found it to be defective. "An unlicensed driver in an unsafe vehicle with seven unrestrained people on board … the consequences could have been catastrophic. We believe seven people are safe today because of the actions of Police." The woman faces several charges in regard to this incident.
