I wrote Obama For The World in 2008 when Barack Obama was a presidential candidate because I was extremely inspired by him. He got my eyes glued to the television set watching news shows constantly in anticipation of election results & news events, which brought me into the moment of the world, if I can. Hes opened up my consciousness to the world. Ive never in my life been so interested in whats going on around the world until 9/11 and when Barack Obama ran for P.O.T.U.S. I am truly inspired to be the greatest human being I can be & help make the world, planet earth & beyond better. In 2008 when Barack Obama was running for President of the U.S. I had a premonition that he was our times M.L.K. and would have the same kind of worldly impact and influence. Thats when the song OBAMA FOR THE WORLD came to me. I feel like this is a special song for a special person, a song for a magical & historical MLK type era & a song that captures the sign of the times. I was extremely bummed out, & still am, that my song OBAMA FOR THE WORLD didnt catch fire during the first election & first month of his presidency. Nevertheless, I would feel very honored, grateful and validated as a recording artist, specifically African-American, whose made a special creative contribution to a significant person and time in history if my song OBAMA FOR THE WORLD is used as the theme song in the upcoming Obama movie Southside With You. Moreover, I even got in trouble & almost got arrested on my birthday last May at the Beverly Hilton Hotel by the Secret Service for trying to seize an opportunity to see the President and somehow have him hear my song OBAMA FOR THE WORLD. Along with LAPD and the Beverly Hills P.D. they surrounded my car with bomb sniffing dogs and asking me lots of questions. They were polite and professional and at the end said they werent arresting me, but asked me to leave and to not come back. I thought it made for an exciting day at the least, but was very disappointed that a black poor disabled person who wrote a song in honor of their boss, the first black President, would be treated in an unfair and discriminating way by the Presidents own white Secret Service. They even called my cellphone company & had my cellphone service account cancelled after leaving a comment seemingly warning me to take down my YouTube video explaining the incident. Days following the cellphone account cancellation LAPD conveniently popped out of nowhere to seemingly save the day and pinned a young Hispanic man walking towards me holding a drawn knife up against the wall outside of the gym where I was parked. To me it looked like it might of been set-up to further deter me from telling my account with them. All this for a great song about a great President. Indeed racism still exist from the top to the bottom. Nevertheless, I feel this is an important song for an important person and an important time in history. With all the protests going on around the world in unity for #Ferguson, #ICANTBREATHE & civil rights I personally feel that Barack Obamas time in office will hopefully bring significant change or unfortunately the Revolution that we have been talking about since the 60s. And with Fox News and the republicans trying to do and say everything they can to damage President Obamas legacy, Im doing what I can to shine a positive light on it.
