Southwinds E-mail Encourager Proverbs 15:23 “A man finds joy in giving an apt reply-- and how good is a timely word!” Being apt and timely with your words gives them longevity. An apt word is one fitting for the occasion. It considers carefully the hearer’s needs, perception, and response. The timely word is a word spoken at the proper time. It is neither too early, presupposing a need, nor too late losing the impact of the moment. How will you know if your words are apt and timely? They will bring you joy with a desire to invest more time in what you say, when you say it, and to whom you say it.
