Soweto giants, Orlando Pirates, will officially unveil their new hotly-awaited adidas jersey for the upcoming 2014/15 campaign at the Orlando Stadium tomorrow, 17 July 2014. Following rivals, Kaizer Chiefs reception from their fellow supporters on their newly-launched home and away kits, it remains to be seen if the Buccaneers can come up with another masterpiece kit. In the 2012/13 season, the Buccaneers opted to play in an all-white jersey for all their home fixtures, but re-introduced the famous black jersey the following season with an intense marketing campaign dubbed “Black is Back” to huge success. Ezika Magebhula have never shied away from pushing the envelope in the design of their jerseys and have slowly introduced the colour red as a prominent feature in their kits, until finally launching a fully red away jersey in the 2008/09 season which has remained part of their kits ever since. Speaking to the Siya crew ahead of the launch tomorrow, Orlando Pirates Public Relations Officer, Mickey Modisane, declared that the Pirates faithful should expect an exceptional garment. “The new Pirates jersey will be in line with adidas’ global trend. This will be our most clinically tested jersey yet, and it will aid the players in improving their performance on the field of play,” said Modisane. Pirates are back from their pre-season camp which was held in Nelspruit, and football supporters should expect to see the Buccaneers in their brand new kit when they do battle with their fierce rivals, Kaizer Chiefs, in the Carling Black Label Cup on July 26.
