~*~ Space Weather today July 27, 2013 ~*~ Solar update: An eruptive prominence was observed on the SW limb in SDO/AIA imagery, beginning at 26/1806 UTC, and subsequent reconnection was responsible for a C1 flare that occurred at 26/1928 UTC. An associated coronal mass ejection was observed in STEREO A COR2 imagery beginning at 26/2009 UTC. Another filament eruption, resulting in a C1 flare at 26/2149 UTC, was observed between Regions 1800 and 1805. Region 1800 was responsible for several B-class flares. Slight growth was observed in the intermediate and trailing spots of Region 1800. The rest of the spotted regions were relatively stable. Solar activity forecast: Solar activity is expected to be very low with a chance for C-class flares and a slight chance for an M-class (R1-Minor) flare for the forecast period (27-29 Jul). Solar wind forecast: Solar wind is expected to decrease to nominal levels through days 1 and 2 (27-28 Jul) as coronal hole high speed stream effects diminish. Nominal solar wind conditions are expected on day 3 (29 Jul). Geospace forecast: The geomagnetic field is expected to be quiet to active (Below G1-Minor) on day 1 (27 Jul) and quiet to unsettled on day 2 (28 Jul) as coronal hole activity decreases. Quiet conditions are expected on day 3 (29 Jul). solarham.net/swpc.htm Solar flares today: No solar flares of C, M class were observed so far.
