Spanish Childrens Literature and Creative Reading, Writing and Storytelling. León. Spring of 2014 CALL FOR APPLICANTS. APPLICATION DEADLINE JAN 15TH 2014. 15 credit program for third and fourth year students. Intermediate High to Advanced Spanish skills required. General course description: Creative reading and writing across cultures are important components of a child’s education. Learning how children from a variety of cultures view the world, finding the commonalities and differences between these views, should therefore be an essential component of a teacher’s education. This seems particularly important in countries like the United States where only a small fraction of the available children’s literature has been translated from other languages. While translations from English dominate the Spanish children’s literature market, some of the more exciting books for children are by Spanish and Latin American authors.
