Example: ropa cara expensive clothes Example: un coche carísimo a very expensive automobile If you want to say that something is ‘expensive’, you often use the verb “salir” with “caro”. Example: Alquilar una casa amueblada sale más caro. Renting a furnished house is more expensive. The phrase “costar muy caro” is often used as a metaphor, like the English metaphor ‘to pay dearly for something’. Example: Un desafío que le puede costar muy caro.
