Spanish press report that FC Barcelona are lining up surprise deal for Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney this summer. FC Barcelona’s summer transfer recruitment is not over despite the club’s acquisition of Brazilian sensation Neymar from Santos FC for a colossal fee. The Catalan giants are looking at additional improvements to the team, and hope to take advantage of some of Europe’s biggest clubs changing their manager – in the hope that the new bosses want to make changes to their squads. With Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich having each switched coaches since the season’s end, Barcelona are interested in snatching a star player from one of the elite. Man Utd striker Wayne Rooney is at the top of their list according to Spanish publication El Mundo Deportivo, with Barca hoping to capitalise on the England international’s poor relationship with David Moyes, the new boss at Old Trafford. The newspaper declare that because Rooney is still young at 27, capable in roles of both finisher and creator, is a great admirer of FC Barcelona and friends with some of its player, he would make the ideal signing. The Red Devils are reportedly interested in signing Thiago Alcantara from FC Barcelona, and perhaps a deal for Rooney could therefore include the Spain Under-21 captain.
