(Child abuse, violence, silence women, slavery, discrimination) The rod is an analogy. A Sheppard uses a rod to direct & correct not only to strike. And a good Sheppard knows how to direct well enough to not strike often. And a good Sheppard nevers strikes to hurt but to correct, & doesnt leave their sheep bloody and destroyed.
