Spartacist League Falls Off the Deep End, Sides With ISIS All Hail The Syrian Arab Army, YPG, PKK, Hezbollah, Syrian Resistance, Shia, and Alawite Self-Defense forces in the Fight Against ISIS! Death to ISIS, the Islamic Front, Jabhat al-Nusra, and the so-called Free Syrian Army! These include the so-called Free Syrian Army and Islamic Front as well as their former comrades in ISIS and Jabhat al-Nusra.] It has been about a year since I wrote an in-depth piece on Syria. For the past month, I have been writing an article on ISIS, the Islamic Front, Jabhat al-Nusra, the so-called Free Syrian Army and Iraq, Syria, Kurdistan, Lebanon, and the U.S., British, Turkish, Saudi Arabian and Qatari intervention in Syria and Iraq. As it is about 50 pages now, I have been finding many ways to shorten it as of late. I hope to get it done soon, but I have been triple checking all facts and updating the article as events occur as well. As I will point out, with numerous well documented examples, ISIS is both evil and a creation of U.S. imperialist intervention in Syria, Afghanistan, and Iraq. Since 2011, the defeat of ISIS, the Islamic Front, Jabhat al-Nusra, and the so-called Free Syrian Army and their predecessors has been an essential task of the anti-imperialist struggle in Syria advocated by legitimate Leninist Trotskyists. Todays bombing campaign against ISIS and Jabhat al-Nusra is closely aligned with stated U.S. plans to later expand the campaign in support of the so-called Free Syrian Army to targets of the Syrian government. An additional one billion dollars in military aid to the FSA that has been passed by congress to aid these efforts. The U.S. bombing campaign in Syria is merely meant to hurt specific elements of the imperialist sponsored counterrevolution in Syria that have become a threat to U.S. puppets in Iraq. Yet, for the pseudo-Trotskyists of the Spartacist League who recently supported the U.S. invasion of Haiti, the mass murdering slave taking genocidal maniacs of ISIS are to be sided with simply because the YPG, in a life and death struggle for survival against genocide, have temporary allied themselves in an uneasy alliance with the anti-Kurdish United States and its anti-Kurdish FSA puppets. As the Spartacist League states: After the initial airstrikes by the U.S. in northern Iraq, we declared: “Any force, however unsavory, that attacks, repels or otherwise impedes U.S. forces strikes a blow in the interests of the exploited and the oppressed” (“U.S. Out of Iraq! No Intervention in Syria!” WV No. 1051, 5 September). However, in the reactionary, mainly Sunni-Shi’ite communal conflicts in Iraq and Syria, the world’s toilers had no side. Since then, Iraqi government forces and Kurdish pesh merga in Iraq are again conducting joint military operations with the U.S., as they did for years under the occupation. More recently, Syrian Kurdish nationalists have also sealed a treacherous alliance with the U.S. in the battle over Kobani in northern Syria, acting as the imperialists’ bomb spotters and otherwise coordinating military movements. The fact that all these forces are “boots on the ground” for imperialist intervention means that revolutionary Marxists have a military side with ISIS when it targets the imperialists and their proxies, including the Syrian Kurdish nationalists, the pesh merga, the Baghdad government and its Shi’ite militias. The Kurdish forces that the Spartacist League wants to militarily defeat are leftist, secular, anti-slavery, anti-genocide, and pro-woman. They also have a long history of militarily defending the Kurdish people in Turkey from U.S. backed genocide. For comparison, here is what ISIS has to say in support of their own genocide and slavery, I add some definitions in brackets: “Upon conquering the [Kurdish] region of Sinjar in Wilāyat Nīnawā, the Islamic State faced a population of Yazidis, a pagan minority existent for ages in regions of Iraq and Shām [Syria]. Their continual existence to this day is a matter that Muslims should question as they will be asked about it on Judgment Day, considering that Allah had revealed Āyat as-Sayf (the verse of the sword) over 1400 years ago. He ta’ālā said, {And when the sacred months have passed, then kill the mushrikīn [Those who devote worship to anyone or anything other than Allah] wherever you find them, and capture them, and besiege them, and sit in wait for them at every place of ambush. But if they should repent, establish prayer, and give zakah, let them [go] on their way. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.} [At-Tawbah: 5]. “The Yazidis present-day creed – as it has changed over history – entails the worship of Iblīs [What would be called “Satan” in Christianity and Judaism] who they consider to be a fallen but forgiven angel amongst the angels who were ordered to prostrate to Ādam! He alone refused to prostrate to Ādam, and they consider this arrogant disobedience of Allah to be his noblest deed! They consider him to be misunderstood by mankind! They consider him to be good and enlightened, and claim that Allah will openly forgive him on Judgment Day after already forgiving him beforehand for crying tears of piety over a period of thousands of years! So they have made Iblīs – who is the biggest tāghūt [Those who disobey Allah] – the symbolic head of enlightenment and piety! What arrogant kufr [One who denies or rejects the “need” to worship Allah and follow the decrees of Islam] can be greater than this? Their creed is so deviant from the truth that even cross-worshipping Christians for ages considered them devil worshippers and Satanists, as is recorded in accounts of Westerners and Orientalists who encountered them or studied them. It is ultimately ironic that Obama sites these devil worshippers as the main cause for his intervention in Iraq and Shām [Syria], as he sides with the peshmerga – gangs of mercenaries related to the Marxist PUK and allied with the Marxist PKK – a “terrorist” organization according to the tāghūt laws the West “believes” in. Prior to the taking of Sinjar, Sharī’ah students in the Islamic State were tasked to research the Yazidis [Those who disobey Allah] to determine if they should be treated as an originally mushrik group or one that originated as Muslims and then apostatized [renounced the religious faith], due to many of the related Islamic rulings that would apply to the group, its individuals, and their families “Because of the Arabic terminologies used by this group either to describe themselves or their beliefs, some contemporary Muslim scholars have classified them as possibly an apostate sect, not an originally mushrik religion, but upon further research, it was determined that this group is one that existed since the pre-Islamic jāhiliyyah, but became “Islamized” by the surrounding Muslim population, language, and culture, although they never accepted Islam nor claimed to have adopted it. The apparent origin of the religion is found in the Magianism of ancient Persia, but reinterpreted with elements of Sabianism, Judaism, and Christianity, and ultimately expressed in the heretical vocabulary of extreme Sufism. Accordingly, the Islamic State dealt with this group as the majority of fuqahā’ [experts on Islamic law] have indicated how mushrikīn should be dealt with. Unlike the Jews and Christians, there was no room for jizyah payment [a tax on non-believers seen in Islam as proof of subjugation to the Islamic state]. Also, their women could be enslaved unlike female apostates who the majority of the fuqahā’ say cannot be enslaved [1] and can only be given an ultimatum to repent or face the sword. After capture, the Yazidi women and children were then divided according to the Sharī’ah amongst the fighters of the Islamic State who participated in the Sinjar operations, after one fifth of the slaves were transferred to the Islamic State’s authority to be divided as khums. This large-scale enslavement of mushrik families is probably the first since the abandonment of this Sharī’ah law. The only other known case – albeit much smaller – is that of the enslavement of Christian women and children in the Philippines and Nigeria by the mujāhidīn there. The enslaved Yazidi families are now sold by the Islamic State soldiers as the mushrikīn were sold by the Companions (radiyallāhu ‘anhum) before. “After this discussion and as we approach al-Malhamah al-Kubrā [the battle of Armageddon] (the greatest battle before the Hour) – whenever its time comes by Allah’s decree – it is interesting to note that slavery has been mentioned as one of the signs of the Hour [i.e. signs of “judgment day” or “the end of days”, a time period in which Allah will supposedly annihilate all life on Earth, resurrect, and judge all people] as well as one of the causes behind al-Malhamah al-Kubrā [the battle of Armageddon]. Rasūlullāh (sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam) mentioned that one of the signs of the Hour was that “the slave girl gives birth to her master.” This was reported by al-Bukhārī and Muslim on the authority of Abū Hurayrah and by Muslim on the authority of ‘Umar.” “(1) [Footnote from original article] The enslavement of the apostate women belonging to apostate groups such as the rāfidah [Those who reject Islamic authority], nusayriyyah [Shia Muslims], durūz [Druze, a branch of Shia Islam that deify the 6th Fāṭimite Caliph of Cairo (996-1020) and incorporate elements of Judaism and Christianity into their religion], and ismā’īliyyah [Isma’ilism, a branch of Shia Islam that differentiates itself from Shia “Twelvers” by recognizing Ismail ibn Jafar as the appointed spiritual successor of Muhammad] is one that the fuqahā’ [experts in Islamic law] differ over. The majority of the scholars say that their women are not to be enslaved and only ordered to repent because of the hadīth, “Kill whoever changes his religion” from Sahīh al-Bukhārī. But some of the scholars including Shaykhul-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah and the Ahnāf (Hanafis) say they may be enslaved due to the actions of the Companions during the Wars of Apostasy where they enslaved the apostate women. This opinion is one also supported by evidence, wallāhu a’lam [Allah is more knowing].” Calling for military victory of these people against the legitimate national liberation struggle of the Syrian and Kurdish people against what were up until very recently forces that were getting backing from the United States anyway, would be akin to calling for victory to Germany against Titos anti-fascist, anti-genocidal, and pro-socialist forces in Yugoslavia due to their cooperation with the United States. Legitimate Leninist Trotskyists thoroughly reject this absurdity!
