Speak of Oyugis town and there comes with it a reminder of good old days..when we had buses like Obuya, Keroka, Linear and Kisii executive. Every Friday in Oyugis town, was like a day in Dubai,..Catholic at the hilltop neighboring Police Station and a Magistrate Court nearby... At both ends of the road Kisii Kisumu road were Oyugis Secondary School and the Famous Agoro Sare High School both punctuated with two Mortuaries, St Raphaels and Matata. The Urban also known as Kajokaaban made sure that Oyugis town was clean...and wow!..speak of River Ayoro which never dried up with sugar cane and coffee plantations along it....Music from Black House ensured everyone had a musical atmosphere within the town center...Families loved each other and you could not pass any home without having porridge and sweet potatoes..if not boiled groundnuts or Rabond Odhigo. Beautiful ladies used to descend from the mountains of Kisii as they compete with Ladies from Kagan, Kodera. Wire, Kosele, Kasimba, Kachieng Bongu...Kokal on who was the most beautiful. I could speak endlessly of THE BEAUTIFUL KOYUGI THEN BUT GONE ARE THE DAYS..IT DOES NOT DESERVE THE NAME ACHUNE ANYMORE...If only this status could be regained then.............................Where did they bury all that glory of the then Oyugis?
