Speaker Forum Dog #228; from dog breeding facility in Minnesota with over 1,000 dogs and puppies JOIN US ON NOVEMBER 24 Last days to register! Please register at link below by Friday, November 21. (If you have already registered, thank you.) Have you rescued or purchased a dog from a breeder or pet store and know this animal is not a normal dog - that he or she struggles with psychological and behavioral issues? Would you like to learn more about rehabilitation ideas for these dogs, have a better understanding of the effects of these breeding facilities on canine health, and network with others? Join us on Monday, November 24, from 1:00pm-4:30pm at the St. Paul College Club to hear Dr. Franklin McMillan speak on: The harmful effects of puppy mills on breeding dogs and their puppies. An international expert on emotional pain in animals, Dr. McMillan is a board-certified specialist in veterinary internal medicine and director of well-being studies at Best Friends Animal Society. Dr. McMillan is also known for his research of the behavioral challenges in dogs and puppies from commercial breeding establishments (CBEs). Dr. McMillans 2011 study (published in the Journal of the American Medical Association) gave the first clear quantitative evidence that dogs in CBEs for breeding purposes demonstrate impaired mental health and, as a result, diminished welfare. PLEASE RSVP before Friday, November 21 Pre-registration required. For further details about the event and to register, click on link below. ATTENTION: VETERINARIANS AND VETERINARY GROUPS - A separate CE Program has been scheduled for veterinarians, veterinary technicians and veterinary students.
