Speaker Reconstitutes Committees, Changes Appropriation, Environment, Petroleum, Science and Tech Chairmen The Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Elder Samuel Ikon has re-constituted House Committees after having dissolved them on resumption of Plenary after recess. Elder Ikon had set up the Committee of Selection citing Order 9 Rule of the House Standing Order with the Speaker as Chairman, the Deputy Speaker, House Officers and other members as so appointed by the Speaker. Committees affected were those of Environment where Mr. Kufre Etuk was moved to Petroleum Committee, while Barr. Bassey Etienam was moved from Petroleum to Science and Technology, Barr. Onofiok Luke was moved from Appropriation and Finance to Committee on Agriculture while Mr. Eyakeno Etukudo was moved from Agriculture to Appropriation and Finance. Mr. Nsikak Ekong was moved from Lands and Housing to Environment while Mr. Edwin Joseph was moved from Committee on Science and Technology to lands and Housing. The Speaker also announced Mr. Jerome Isangedighi as the new Deputy Chairman of the Public Account Committee while Mr. Eyakeno Etukudo is now the new Deputy Chairman of House Services Committee while he added that other Committee Chairmen were to retain their Committees with an instruction to the Clerk, Mrs Mandu Umoren to post Parliamentary Clerks to the Committees. Elder Ikon while calling on the media not to read perceptions into the changes, emphasized that the decisions to change Committee Chairmen were only legislative and were normal legislative norms adding that such changes could be done yearly adding that no amount of blackmail would deter him from carrying out his functions as he would continue to do his job with utmost fairness and justice. However political pundits and observers are of the view that the three of the four Committee Chairmen were changed from their former Committees due to their political stance in the upcoming gubernatorial elections
