Speaking of mixing things up, my FB blogging is really stirring up - TopicsExpress

Speaking of mixing things up, my FB blogging is really stirring up some folks. Some friends tell me to knock it off. Some friends tell me that is not how FB is used! (Apparently you are supposed to post only pictures of family and friends and very short--no longer than two sentences--explanations.) Some friends tell me that FB can be used however you want to--and that is the beauty of it. I happen to agree with this last crowd. If you read my March 10th tribute to Katy Perrys Roar song, you may already have figured out that I was terrified of FB for years (what you put on the internet stays on the internet and all that--which is true). But I had a change of heart. This was my revelation, and what I wrote about KPs Roar video: [Katy] is at first terrified of all the unknowns around her, until she realizes that all the things that felt scary to her could be her allies if she really pays attention to them, respects them, helps them, and lets them help her. That is what I am trying to do here on FB, my friends. I have a lot of friends in real life, and a lot of thoughts that I thought I wanted to just put out there, to throw at the wall :-) just in case they would stick for someone else, and help them too. I decided that if I was truthful, had good intentions, and offered up my thoughts with no strings attached and no expectation of any feedback, what would be the harm in communicating my truth for the whole world to see? Why should I be ashamed to have that out there on the internet? Published authors and songwriters do that every day--and they help us all. The beauty of this is: if you dont like the book, put it down. If you dont like the song, tune it out. If you dont like me, then defriend me, or turn down the volume on FB on me. Id be really happy if you did. You see, thats FB Darwinism. Survival of the fittest, or rather, in my case, survival of the friend-est. After getting this feedback, for a few hours there, I was going to take my blog posts to an actual blog, but then I decided against it for the time being. Do you know why? Because FB threw down a challenge at me. I have been banned by from sending friend requests and tagging anyone for the past few days, and my ban is in effect for the next three days, they [FB error msg] tell me. Why? Because FB says that I am using it in unusual ways. I hear FB--I know that I am doing so--and I know that spam is irritating. But FB, please know I am simply trying to infect the world with love here. And FB just wont let me go viral. Hmmm... You may know that I can be a bit stubborn, and very curious. So I am going to hang in there for a little bit more on FB--ban or no ban--and just see where this experiment takes us. If you have any ideas for me, or any thoughts on this topic, Id love to hear them. I love input, and public comments are the best. Lets all just put it out there. Loud and proud! But I do have some very simple rules: 1) truth and 2) good intent (with bonus points for wit). My dream is that we all band together to use technology, and not allow technology to use us. (Thank you Ben and Nathaniel for letting us know on March 16th how promoting posts for a $7 fee works out--this is the kind of feedback I am talking about.) I believe in community, and I believe in you. I invite you to let us know what you think!
