Spearing the Blackbird out of the garage with a flick of the wrist on the throttle Ryan then tapped the auto door remote in his jacket with his left hand and hit the road, rapidly threading his way through the suburban streets and out on to the Federal Highway heading Northeast in the direction of Sydney in bright sunshine. Once on the highway he cast caution to the wind hoping that he would not encounter any police highway patrols on his way. He knew he would have to be extremely lucky not to.
