The LORD is my shepherd; there is nothing I lack. ~ Psalm 23:1 Dear Maryknoll Friend, Following six years as the Maryknoll Societys Superior General, it is time for me and those who have served with me on the General Council to begin our respective new journeys to serve our church and to serve the people we meet in mission. As todays Psalm reminds us, we all have chosen to follow the Lord and there is nothing more we shall need once we are called to fulfill Gods work on earth. I have enjoyed the time we have shared. During these weekly visits, you and I, together, have learned much more about our Catholic faith and the history of our church. We have prayed together. We have shared reflections. Weve both been blessed with the opportunities to try to make our world a better place for all in the eyes of God. The last few years have involved a lot of paperwork, meetings and decisions to support and guide the present and future of the Maryknoll Society. I always fondly will remember our worldwide centennial celebration from just a few years ago and the excitement we share whenever we hear about the great work of our missioners in so many lands. This period has been a time of renewal, for me and for the Maryknoll Society. It is now time for me to return to the work that first attracted me to Maryknoll and that has brought me closer to God. While my future assignment is yet to be determined, I know that it will allow me to respond to the call of Christ to proclaim the Good News to all. Wherever I serve next in mission, be assured that I always will remember you in my daily prayers. I also will tell everyone about you and all others who support our work to share Gods love.
