Special Court rejects Pervez Musharraf to go abroad to see ailing mother: ISLAMABAD, March 31 – The Special Court has denied the request of former president Pervez Musharraf to be allowed to travel abroad, not even to see her ailing mother in United Arab Emirates (UAE). According to the preliminary reports, the Special Court rejected his plea of going abroad citing that only government could remove his name from Exit Control List (ECL). The court also said that he could get medical treatment from anywhere in Pakistan. However, court gave immunity to Pervez Musharraf fro court appearances. Court categorically mentioned in the decision that only government could decide on Musharraf’s travel outside Pakistan as it was the government that included his name in the ECL. Court also mentioned Musharraf has not been barred to move free. He is not under arrest. Government cannot stop him from travelling abroad only by considering his under process trial in the Special Court. Earlier, the lawyer of former president Pervez Musharraf – Advocte Farogh Naseem – submitted two separate appeals in the court seeking permission for his client to travel abroad. One application sought permission for Musharraf to travel to Sharajah where his ailing mother was admitted in a hospital. Second application sought permission for Musharraf to travel to US for his own treatment. With the second application, Farogh Naseem had submitted the medical report of his client as well stating ‘this is a secret report’.
