Special Education School-Age Programs (853 schools) have been neglected and are in critical condition! YOU need to call and send a letter to the Governor, the leaders in each house (Senate: Stewart-Cousins, Klein & Skelos and Assembly: Kolb & Silver) and your Senator and Assemblymember and tell each of them that a yearly increase for 853 schools is essential for their survival! You can get talking points from the letter on IACs website for your use. As a constituent you are very important to your elected officials and you must tell them what is important to you NOW. Call AND send letters to the Governor, your Senator and Assemblymember, and the Legislative Leaders. You can EASILY go to this link below to send them an instant letter. Go to iacny.org and click on Legislative Action on the top, right side of the screen. Then, click on the circle that says Get involved. After that, click on Take Action for the appropriate issue (853s, Early Intervention or Direct Support Professionals) (feel free to send letters and make calls on all 3!) Fill in your information and either send emails or paper letters to your elected officials. Their phone numbers IN ALBANY will also be available there.
