Special Storm Damage Brush Pick-Up in the Village of Homer Glen Homer Glen, (July 1, 2014) On June 30th a powerful storm moved through Homer Glen resulting in downed tree limbs and branches. The Homer Township Highway Department will remove the brush from this storm over the next several days. “The main priority is to clear the streets so that emergency vehicles can pass,” stated Village of Homer Glen’s Mayor Jim Daley. “Once this occurs, the Highway Department will begin removing brush from the parkway of any resident that calls in requesting removal” stated Mayor Daley. This free program will expire at the end of the day Monday, July 14th. Please prepare your storm-tree limbs and branches according to the following guidelines: • Branches cannot be larger than 10 inches in diameter. Branches can be any length, but longer branches are preferred. • All brush set out for removal must be placed on the parkway and not on the road. • The brush must be neatly piled and stacked. Please do not tie your brush into bundles. • Brush piles cannot exceed 5’ wide by 3’ high. You may set out more than one pile. The following items will not be accepted for removal: stumps, root balls, roots, lumber, metal of any kind, posts, clippings, dirt, grass,flowers, weeds, plants, leaves, plastic bags and household garbage.
